Matthew 5:3-10

Matthew 5:3-10

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
    For they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    For they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
    For they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
    For they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
10
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

God tells us that when we go through persucution, when we want to be Christ-like, when we try to live for God, when we do all these things for God, and for His sake, we will be fulfilled and rewarded.
In verse 12, it says:
"Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in
heaven.."

verses 3-10 in The Message:

“You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.
“You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.
“You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.
“You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.
“You’re blessed when you care. At the moment of being ‘care-full,’ you find yourselves cared for.
“You’re blessed when you get your inside world—your mind and heart—put right. Then you can see God in the outside world.
“You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family.
10 “You’re blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. The persecution drives you even deeper into God’s kingdom.

Don't feel like it is pointless, or, unnecessary to do works for God. Not that the only good thing, or only reason for you to be doing it is because of what you will receive  But it is true , you will be blessed, and others may be blessed through you.
I wrote this last night, and then tonight, at church, my youth pastor preached about it.
The world will always lie to you and tell you that happiness is found in the things of the world. In drugs, alcohol  partying, things of sin, but those things are only fake, temporary happiness.
One of the definitions of Blessed, is : blissfully happy or contented. Or as my youth pastor kept saying, Perfectly Happy.
Ways to be Perfectly Happy.
1. Know that you are in need of God's help. The world will always lie to you and said you don't need God.
2. Be devastated over your sin. Lie: Sin is okay, especially if you can get away with it. Ask God to break your heart over your sin.
3. Do not assert yourself over others for personal gain. Strive to be last, and put others before yourself.
4. Be desperate for God's righteousness to be lived through you. Seek God, and not the world. Fast from things of the world in replace for something of and for God. I personally, am strongly thinking about fasting from TV and secular music for a week. Both of those things take up sooo much space, time, and thoughts in my life that I could be using for better things.
5. Be merciful to everyone. Even the ones that treat you badly, you shouldn't give them what they deserve. God does not give you what you deserve. If you're in a true relationship with God and have experienced His mercy, you'll know its amazing. That is the kind of mercy we should show others.. everyone. Ultimite kindness.
6. Be pure in heart. Avoid all impure things, the things of sin and of the world. Lie: Purity is no fun
7. Be a peacemaker, promote peace between God and man.
8. Follow Jesus' ways and learn to love persecution. To be found worthy, or to stand out enough to be persecuted for Christ is so cool! God is worth suffering for, and giving things up for. Give up the things of this world. I don't want to blend in with the world.

You know the story of the two men, one built his house on the rock, and one built his house on the sand. When the rain and storms came, the house on the sand washed away, but the house on the rock was still standing. But, when the men build the houses, there was sand on the entire surface. There wasn't just some rock standing out over to the side. He had to dig deep through the sand to get to the rock.. You'll have to dig deep through the Bible to have a firm understanding and be able to build your life upon it.

I know, I don't usually do posts like this.. so long and deep. But I think God really had a reason for me to find these scriptures, because I just happened to do this last night, and then in church we just 'happened' to talk about it again. I think there is some really important stuff in those simple few verses. Let me know if you like these longer posts, or the short and sweet better. I'll still continue doing the shorter ones, but I'd like to know. Also, important, please be praying for Lissie's friend, Jasmine, and her family. Jasmine's dad passed away last night. They know that he is in Heaven, but I'm sure they need God's peace right now. Thank you guys <3 <3
