light of the world

Matthew 5:14
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Christs' followers are like a City on a hill. We are set apart and we should look that way. People should see us and see that we have the light of Jesus in us. 

John 8:12
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying "I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." 
( Jesus speaking again)

Jesus is the light of the world, so those who follow him are, as well.

1 John 1:5-7
5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one an another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
